VC/VCX APPLICATION
The following are acceptable as documentation for titles/awards required for VC/VCX:
For all AKC titles: (any of the following)
• Photocopy of AKC title certificate (only the most current certificate showing all AKC titles
awarded to date is required)
• Photocopy of “New Title” listing in AKC Awards publication
• Photocopy of any GRCA Yearbook page showing the dog’s name and title(s)
• Photocopy of the dog’s official show or trial record provided by AKC
For show awards (major/minor points): (either of the following)
• Photocopy of show results in AKC Awards publication
• Photocopy of the dog’s official show or trial record provided by AKC
For field trial placements or JAMs, or hunt tests: (any of the following)
• Photocopy of trial or test report in AKC Awards publication
• Photocopy of trial report in Field Trial News publication
• Photocopy of dog’s official show or trial record provided by AKC
• Photocopy of any GRCA Yearbook page showing the dog’s name and title(s) or placements
For GRCA Awards (Halls of Fame, WC, WCX, CCA): (any of the following)
• Photocopy of official GRCA certificate
• Photocopy of any GRCA Yearbook page showing the dog’s name and award
• Photocopy of pertinent page from the GRNews column or event report
There may be occasional cases where other types of documentation would be acceptable, but the above should serve the great majority of cases.
Publication is made only of AKC and GRCA titles/awards. Do not include foreign or alternative registry titles, therapy dog designations, Canine Good Citizen certificates, etc. (The ONLY foreign titles that will be included in the dog’s name are field or bench championships in Canada.)
GRCA Versatility Certificate (VC) and
Versatility Excellent Certificate (VCX)

Mission Statement:
The Golden Retriever Club of America holds in highest esteem the versatility of those Golden Retrievers who reflect both the conformation and working attributes of the breed. The Versatility Certificate (VC) and Versatility Excellent Certificate (VCX) are awarded to those Golden Retrievers who exemplify that degree of versatility through a combination of accomplishments in each of the following areas : Conformation, Field and Performance.
Requirements for the Versatility Certificate (VC) and Versatility Excellent Certificate (VCX)
- Versatility Certificate s and Versatility Excellent Certificates are awarded only when applied for and accompanied by supporting documentation (see VC/VCX Application).
- Versatility points are awarded for the highest achievements in each area: Conformation, Field and Performance.
- There are a total of six different categories within the three areas. The conformation area includes accomplishments in the Breed ring or CCA tests. The Performance area is comprised of titles in the Obedience (including Rally), Agility and Tracking categories. The Field area consists of both Hunt Tests and Field Trial accomplishments.
- The dog must have at least 1 point in each area: Conformation, Field and Performance.
- A total of 12 points must be acquired from within the six categories for a Versatility Certificate (VC). The Versatility Excellent Certificate (VCX) requires a total of 20 points from within the categories.
- Points within a category are not cumulative (Only the highest point title is recognized).
