Chair, Public Education Committee
The Mission of the Public Education Committee is to evaluate, develop, and disseminate materials and programs intended to inform the general public on the responsibilities involved in owning and caring for a Golden Retriever.
Purpose
- To support the Golden Retriever Club of America's objective of promoting responsible ownership by developing programs and materials in a variety of formats that meet the needs of the general public.
- To coordinate GRCA public education efforts with those of the American Kennel Club, and other appropriate organizations, whenever possible.
- To serve as a resource for other GRCA committees that interface with the general public when requested to do so.
- To serve as a public education resource for local Golden Retriever Clubs and rescue organizations.
- To develop programs, materials, and services that will make the GRCA a leader in public education.
- To work with other GRCA Committees, particularly the Puppy Referral Committee and the Breed Education Committee.
- Act as a public information inquiry resource.
Committee Type and Structure
This committee will be a standing committee comprised of six to ten members including the PEC Chairperson or Coordinator. The PEC Chair will be appointed by the GRCA Board. Additional members of the Committee will be approved by the GRCA Board. Each committee member will be responsible for coordinating one of the major functions of the committee. Each region of the GRCA should be represented in the committee if possible. The Committee will communicate via an electronic mail group on a regular basis. All members of the Committee will work cooperatively to develop public educational material. Additional resources for this committee would be the GRCA Technology Committee, the Golden Retriever Foundation, and the Puppy Referral Committee. Appointments to the Public Education Committee will be reviewed yearly.
Responsibilities of the Chairperson
- The chairperson will oversee the work of the other committee members and ensure a coordination of effort between each area on related projects, and between the PEC and any other GRCA committees that require assistance or support from the PEC.
- Provide an annual report to the Board of Directors on the work of the committee and its projects.
- Ensure that any projects which require an expenditure of funds are outlined in detail and submitted in advance for funding approval to the Board of Directors. Further, the chairperson will be responsible for keeping track of project expenses and should provide the Board with a final report at the conclusion of each project.
- Provide the GRCA Secretary with an annual report that summarizes the accomplishments of the committee and outlines proposals for future programs and projects.
- Maintain all records of the committee.
- Provide successor with all committee records and materials.

Director, Golden Retriever Foundation
All candidates for this position must be members in good standing in the Golden Retriever Club of America for the last four consecutive years.
The duties of the directors of the Golden Retriever Foundation include the energetic acquisition of donations and the judicious and equitable distribution of grants. The foremost concern is always the welfare of the breed and the care of individual dogs. The directors are answerable to the GRCA Board and to the many contributors for the responsible conduct of Foundation business. Some of the characteristics which are necessary for success as a GRF director are teamwork, leadership, integrity, and impartiality. Long range planning and good communication skills are also important.
The position which is available is that of President of the Foundation. This position requires outstanding communication skills and the ability to deal constructively with a variety of people.
With these attributes in mind, please explain why you would like to serve on the GRF Board of Directors and what you would like to accomplish as a Director. Describe the particular talents, experience and training which you feel you can bring to the GRF. List any significant volunteer or professional positions which you have held which have prepared you for the position.

Chair, Breed Education Committee
The Breed Education Committee’s purpose is to develop educational programs and materials that recognize the Golden Retriever as primarily a hunting dog and encourage owners, breeders and judges to select Golden Retrievers that possess the appearance, soundness, temperament, natural abilities and personality reflected in the breed standard. The Committee also educates breeders and owners in the care and enjoyment of their Golden Retrievers.
The BEC is composed for four subcommittees: Member Education, Field Education, Breeder Education, and Judges Education, and a newly created Design Group to assist with educational projects in various media. This complex committee is headed by a Chair who oversees the work of the four subcommittees and deals with the Board of Directors on their projects. The Chair needs to be an organized, effective leader with good interpersonal skills, have been involved with Golden Retrievers for at least 12 years as a breeder and have participated in conformation, field, obedience or performance activities. While the Chair does not need in-depth technical knowledge, the position requires adequate computer skills in order to maintain effective communication.

BREED EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Subcommittee Position Openings he GRCA Judges’ Education Subcommittee has vacancies which must be filled as soon as possible. Judges' Education Subcommittee - Must reside in the EASTERN REGION
Qualifications: Each regional subcommittee member shall have at least fifteen years of documented experience in showing Golden Retrievers in conformation and shall each have bred five litters of Golden Retrievers and produced four AKC champions of record from those litters. Each subcommittee member shall have been a GRCA member for at least fifteen years. Of the three regional subcommittee members and the Chair, at least two of these four shall be AKC approved Golden Retriever Breeder/Judges.
Purpose : The purpose of the Judges' Education Subcommittee shall be to educate current and aspiring judges in the evaluation of Golden Retrievers in the show ring according to the official AKC breed standard, by developing project ideas for Board approval, and design and produce audio/visual programs, articles and brochures as approved by the Board.
Design Group
Purpose: The Design Group will work with the various subcommittees of the Breed Education Committee to develop presentation materials. They will secure photographs and videos as requested, and will work with the Technology Committee to add materials to the GRCA website.
Skills: Digital photography and videography, publishing (print, electronic and online), multi-media production, graphic design. Familiarity with the Golden Retriever breed standard, judging and breeding. Familiarity with the Golden Retriever as a hunting dog.
No Design Group member is expected to be an expert in all of these skills. A working knowledge of the new technology for education presentations and teaching materials is desirable.
